Get going with Calgary Hockey League

By Mark Smith

If you are in or around Calgary and are a sports freak like me, then I would ask you if you have had an experience of playing Ball Hockey? Well, it is an amazing sport and I found it after participating in a small hockey league that offers Men, Women and Coed hockey leagues' teams.

I must say that after my initial awe, I find myself getting more and more into the sport. I simply love it for the challenge it provides and an opportunity that it extends for me to remain fit and in the thick of things. My last season was enthralling to say the least and I have become an ardent player and a fan of the sport. So much so, I am all paid up for the next season at my Calgary Hockey League.

These days, ball hockey is being played more frequently because of the interest that it has generated amongst families, friends and peers. And you cannot overlook the contributing factors that have made this look simpler and popular.

You have the option to play street hockey or you can even play floor hockey in one of the organized leagues. Getting a hockey is no longer so difficult, and depending on your age, height you can get a hockey stick suitable for your age and height. Say a junior hockey stick can be as low as 46 inches in length. Getting the gear is also straight forward. Once you have the gear and hockey and are ready, you can choose to play in the full arena in your league. This will largely depend on your level as a beginner, intermediate or advanced player. So, you could participate as an amateur or a professional and your league team will align accordingly.

On top of all this, you have the chance to win the league title, thereby getting the award, trophy, recognition and whole lot of satisfaction since you never expected it. For a guy like me, this adds to professional competency in playing the sport hard. And what can beat the overall fitness, and challenge that the sport has to offer.
