NCAA Football 10 - Review

By Carl Ferguson

With the sound of helmets crashing together and the roaring of the crowds, there's nothing quite like college football so it's hardly surprising that virtually everybody loves it. Even the sound of the band playing can often send chills down your spine. Admittedly, while there may not be anything capable of replacing the real thing, NCAA Football 10 certainly does come pretty. In fact, there are so many new features to explore; it would be fair to say that the franchise has never been better than it is now. Let's go ahead and take a look at a few reasons why you should consider getting the latest installment of NCAA Football 10.

One of the most noticeable things about NCAA Football 10 is that a lot of things remain unchanged so of course you can still expect incredibly realistic football simulation. Thanks to the incredible power of the next generation consoles, it's probably the most realistic thing you've ever come across.

There are a lot of new features in this year's version of NCAA Football. Like previous years you can go online and play against other people. However, they now have a mode called Season Showdown. This is a very cool idea that involves playing for your favorite school. When you first get started, you're going to select one school that you'd like to play for. The more you play online and win, the more points you earn for your school. You can play trivia games and a lot of other interactive games to earn points. At the end of the year, the Season Showdown National Championship will be awarded to one school. This is a great way to interact with others playing the game and root for your school.

The dynasty mode is still one of the best features of the game. With this version, you can actually take it a step further and create your own school. Creating your own school is a great way to put your stamp on every single thing that has to do with your program. You're going to name the school, design the logo, pick the fight song, and create your team. You can even customize individual players to play on your team. It's a great feature and it just adds to the overall intrigue of dynasty mode.

Of course it goes without saying that the actual game play is still unbeatable. Those who have become accustomed to playing Madden will immediately notice that this affords you the opportunity to play a different type of football. Being able to run the option is a great feature which of course is not available in an NFL game.

The game planning feature is extremely cool as well. This allows you to put emphasis on certain aspects of the game. If you're having trouble running the ball, put more emphasis on opening up the running lanes. However, you should know that this will increase the amount of holding calls that you get.

Perhaps the most welcome addition to the game is the new "play calling" mode which allows you to keep your opponents guessing and as such, you have an opportunity to catch them with their guards down.

Yes, It's not the real thing but as far as gains are concerned, there's really not much else out there which can be compared to NCAA Football 10. The bottom line is; as far as the gaming industry is concerned, NCAA Football 10 is without a doubt the leader in the field. If you want to once again lose yourself in college football, then go ahead and check out the game as soon as possible.
